Academic Achievements and Test ScoresOur students score above national norms in all areas of standardized testing. Each year at St. Giles School students in grades 3-7 take the Terra Nova Standardized Test. The 2010 test results demonstrated that St. Giles students scored in the highest quartile in all curriculum content areas.
The main purpose for using a standardized testing program is to provide our school and teaching staff with specific grade analysis of curriculum strengths and weaknesses and to improve and adjust teaching strategies to meet grade-specific needs. The Terra Nova results indicate student performance and mastery of specific curriculum content objectives as compared to students of like ages and grade levels across the nation in both the private and public school sectors. Standardized tests are a good indicator of student performance but certainly are not the only means of student assessment used at St. Giles School. At St. Giles School each child is viewed as a total student within a nurturing yet challenging academic environment.
