St. Giles School Board of Specified Jurisdiction Members
The following people make up the school board for the 2011-2012 school year.
Lee Leibig
Lee is a Sr. Director of Sales for Broadcom Corporation, which is a cutting edge technology innovator and global leader in semiconductors for communications. Lee has been with Broadcom for 10 years, has received several sales awards, opened the Chicago office, and manages the entire Central U.S. and Mexico. Lee has over 13 years of Catholic Education from around the country, including a BSEE from Marquette University and an M.B.A. from DePaul University. With over 20 years in the technology sector, Lee is very excited to help the St. Giles School continue to embrace technology as a means of improving the educational experience and prepare our students to compete in the local and global community. Lee and his wife Nancy joined the St. Giles community 6 years ago with their 2 children. Both kids attend St. Giles School, with one in 4nd grade and the other in 2nd grade. Lee is also a member of the Wonder Works Children’s Museum Board.
Kerri McBride
Kerri and her family have been St. Giles parishioners for over five years. Kerri, her husband, Rob Riley, and their daughter Maggie, are residents of Forest Park. Before Maggie started school, Kerri and Rob looked at a number of schools and decided that St. Giles was the best option for them - because of its strong academics, close knit community and integrated system of peer support and learning. She volunteers with Maggie’s Girl Scout troop and is active in other community activities at St. Giles and in Forest Park. Kerri graduated from the University of Illinois and from Chicago Kent College of Law. Kerri was in private practice and was an attorney for a public entity before becoming compliance counsel at Cambridge Integrated Services Group, Inc. where she handles compliance, licensing and contractual matters. Her experience in compliance and corporate law will serve the Board when it reviews the various legal issues affecting the school.
Colleen Reardon
Colleen Reardon attended Catholic schools throughout her educational career beginning in first grade and continuing through graduate school. She is a member of the St. Giles Handbell Choir. Colleen is currently Dean of the School of Education at Dominican University. Her previous professional experience includes her role as Associate Dean of the School of Education and teaching as Associate Professor of Education. She works on a federal grant initiative with the Library of Congress in conjunction with the Federation of Illinois Private Colleges and Universities. Prior to her full-time appointment at Dominican, she worked for many years as a teacher and then school administrator in the K-12 system with students with disabilities.
Cathy Rhomberg
Cathy and her husband, Roger, have been St. Giles parishioners since they moved to Oak Park in 1995. They currently have three boys attending St. Giles School. Cathy received her BA from the University of Iowa and her MBA in Marketing from the University of North Carolina. Afterward, she worked in advertising and strategic marketing at Leo Burnett Inc. for many major brands including Kellogg’s, Maytag, United Airlines, Andersen Consulting, and the Dairy Council. Cathy has been an active member of the St. Giles community serving in many volunteer roles such as PREP teacher and PTO volunteer for Great Books, Art Awareness, Hot Lunch and Scholastic Book Fair co-chairperson. Cathy is happy to serve on the Board’s Marketing Committee and contributing to the strategic effort to enhance and communicate the St. Giles School brand image.
Sandra Ruiz
Sandra Ruiz is the Product Delivery Manager for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and has worked as an independent senior consultant almost 2 years in providing technology enterprise expertise across multiple industries. She spent over 18 at Goldman Sachs in Technology developing and executing business solutions, strategic planning and managing operations globally. Sandra has a Master’s of Science degree in Telecommunications and a Bachelor of Administration in Management & Marketing from DePaul University. She has served on several board’s such as; P.R.E.P., Junior Achievement of Chicago, Business Architect’s Association, and Advisor for Westinghouse College Prep High School. She has been a lector for nearly 4 years and an active volunteer throughout the school year. Sandra and her husband, Jerry, have been St. Giles parishioners since 1998.
They have a recent graduate, Julian and currently have Adrian and Alyssa attending St. Giles.
Barbara Schulz
Barbara and Dick Schulz have been members of the St. Giles community for 43 years. In 1963 with her degree in Psychology and Education from Mundelein College (now part of Loyola University), Barbara started her teaching career. Soon after her marriage, she put her teaching profession aside to raise five children, three boys and two girls. All of them attended and graduated from St. Giles School. During those years, Barbara kept active as a volunteer in all phases of parish life. Whether she was serving in the role of committee member or officer, in the Prep program, Scouting, CCW, various parish organizations or school, she put all of her effort and love into doing the best she could. She was especially excited when she was asked to volunteer to teach different school programs. In 1988, Barbara had just completed her three year term on the School Board when she was asked to fill in the remaining school year for a Second Grade teacher who was going on maternity leave. This temporary assignment lasted for 17 years and Room 104 became her second home. She loved being there and her students were her extended family. Each one was treated as a unique individual and held a special place in her heart, as does St. Giles School. Barbara is pleased to have the opportunity to once again serve as a member of the Board in helping further the knowledge and value systems that make St. Giles special.
Don Vogel
A 20 year member of the St. Giles parish community Don and his wife Mary have three children, Karl (Lawrence University), Thomas (OPRFHS) and Anna (Julian Middle School). Don has been a member of the Oak Park and River Forest High School faculty for 35 years. He has served in a variety of roles including, Library Director, Summer School Director, Intro to Television instructor, Student Council advisor and interim Principal. He is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the National Youth Leadership Council at the University of Minnesota and the West Suburban Athletic Conference Board of Control. He is currently the Director of Business Education, Instructional Technology, Library and Media Services at OPRF. Don brings both a strong belief in and the practical knowledge to support the ability of all students to achieve. He will assist the Board by offering consultation on our educational technology goals as well as on the strategic direction of our academic programs.
Dwight Atchley
Dwight and his wife, Theresa, have been St.Giles parishioners since 1999. They currently have 3 children attending St.Giles School, Elizabeth, Lauren and William. Dwight received his BA in Economics from the University of Tennessee and his MS in Finance from Illinois Institute of Technology. Dwight is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones located in Oak Park with 25 years of experience in the financial industry. Dwight currently serves on the Board of Wonder Works Children’s Museum and the Oak Park Tennis Center.
Jean Hefner L'Heureux
Jean Hefner L’Heureux is a graduate of St. Giles. She is presently a Fifth Grade Teacher at William Hatch Elementary School in Oak Park. Jean recently finished two master programs at Concordia University Chicago, one as a Reading Specialist and the other in School Leadership. She has four grown children two of whom are teachers, one is studying medicine, and the other just graduated from Paramedic Training. Jean is looking forward to being a part of the St. Giles School Board and technology committee.
Jennifer Butler
Jennifer Butler is the Marketing Director and Head Softball Coach at Fenwick High School in Oak Park. Prior to joining Fenwick four years ago, she had a 10-year marketing career in both non-profit and corporate environments at the Women’s Sports Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association and Gatorade. Jennifer earned an M.B.A from Bowling Green State University and dual undergraduate degrees in Sport Management and Marketing from BGSU as well. She is excited about this opportunity to become more engaged in the Oak Park/River Forest community and assist St. Giles with its marketing and outreach efforts.
Julianne Nery
Julianne Piotrowski Nery has been a member of St Giles Parish and resident of Oak Park for 6 years. She has two boys, a first grader at St. Giles and a preschooler. Julianne is a native of Buffalo, New York and attended Catholic grammer school. She received her B.S. in Social Policy from Northwestern University, and remains active with NU's alumni relations. After earning her Juris Doctorate in New York, Julianne returned to Illinois and started her legal career as a Cook County Assistant State Attorney. She later moved into private practice specializing in professional liability insurance. Julianne is currently on hiatus from practicing law. She has been an active member with the school's PTO, serves on the School Board Development Committee, is a school legislative action representative with the Catholic Conference of Illinois, and has been dedicated to the Lion's Pride event for the past two years. Julianne has been married for 12 years to Joseph Nery, a native southside Chicagoan who is also an attorney with his own law practice. She is honored to be a part of the St. Giles School Board and is committed to ensuring the school has the resources to provide the students with an outstanding education.
Joe McIntosh
Joe is a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Division at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Since joining Merrill Lynch in 1997, Joe has worked in it's Chicago office, providing strategic advice to corporations in the Midwest. Joe has also volunteered his time with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Chicago for the past 8 years, serving as a community based mentor and member of the Board of Directors and Board Development committee. Born and raised in eastern Iowa, Joe received a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Iowa with Highest Distinction and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law. Joe and his wife, Amy have been members of the St. Giles community since moving to Oak Park in 2001 and currently have two boys, Jack and Sam who attend St. Giles.
