Curriculum for the Week of 5/14
Reading: This week and next week we are in Unit 6. The students are able to pick their stories for the week and will be working in groups on a final project for that story.
Your child will take the book home every night to practice the story and there will be a test on Friday.
Spelling: This week and next week the words will match the story your child has chosen. Just a note the words are getting harder so please be sure to review your child's words each week. There will be homework all week and a test on Friday.
Students are able to have challenge words based on how they do on the pretest on Monday. If you are looking for extra practice for spelling words please visit www.spellingcity.com.
Grammar :We will be discussing capitalization, quotation marks and commas this week. There will be homework this week.
Writing: We will continue to work on organizing ideas in writing.
Handwriting: We will continue cursive writing.
Phonics: We will be finishing up synonyms and antonyms this week.
Math: We are taking a test on measuerment on Wednesday. We will begin multiplication. Please be sure your child completes the homework.
If your child does well on the pretest I give before every chapter, then their math is modified to meet their needs. Please practice addition and subtraction facts with your child as much as you can.
Religion: We will discuss Mary.
Science: We will discuss rocks
