FEBRUARY NEWS (2-20-2012)
Keith Williams IS OUR STUDENT OF THE WEEK!
No February birthdays....
In Religion we will begin our study of "LENT". On Tuesday, February 21st we will have a Mardi Gras in our classroom. This celebration leads us into Lent. On Wednesday, February 22nd the students at St.Giles will attend an "Ash Wednesday" Mass. Your child will receive ashes at this Mass. Your child will be receiving a "LENT" calendar.
READING: End of the Tri-mester assessments ( No Reading Groups/Centers) this week. Parents will be informed of the results of these assessments (via report card). If your child is struggling in a certain area, I will contact you directly. We are wrapping up Unit 3, as well in our Reading Series (See How We Grow).
In Math we are working on counting and writing up to 100. The Kindergarten students are also working on counting by tens, fives, and twos to one hundred.

In Handwriting the Kindergarten students will complete an assessment of Uppercase letters. In the third trimester, the children will begin to work on printing last names, and printing lowercase letters in words.
In Creative Writing the Kindergarten students just completed two classroom books (Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? and Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear?). The Children worked together in Cooperative Learning Groups to complete these books. They were extremely engaged.
