FYI Just released important
dates for Kindergarten Families

Today Mrs. Spreng and associate came
to our classroom to share tips on good tooth care. Each kindergartner received
a care package from Children’s Dentistry. Thank you Mrs. Spreng for such an
animated program!
Religion
We prepare for Ash Wednesday. Through discussion
and reading we will be familiar with the Ash Wednesday ritual. We will discuss
what it means, “To turn away from sin and follow the gospel.” We will learn
where the ashes came from and why they are blessed.
We will learn the meaning of Lent and resolve to
perform good deeds during Lent.
Language Arts
The main phonic skill for writing consists of
starting the spoken word, then listening, identifying, and writing the sounds
in that word. The ability to hear the sounds in words is called phonological
awareness. Our objective has been to teach them to hear the sounds and know
where it comes within the word. Beginning, middle, end sounds have been our
focus. Next Trimester we will be learning about Initial Consonants Blends:
Bl, cl, fl, pl, sl, br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, tr,
Math
Second Trimester evaluations; Counts to 100 by
ones and tens, Counts sets of 20 objects, Solves simple addition and
subtraction problems, and describes measurable attributes of objects such as
length or weight.
