St. Giles School Board of Specified Jurisdiction Members
The following people make up the school board for the 2016-2017 school year.
Ann Clements – BSJ Chair, Strategic Planning Chair
Ann and her husband, Mike, have been St. Giles parishioners since 2002 and have four children, one of whom graduated from St. Giles in 2016 and three of whom are current students. Ann is an attorney with the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) where she has worked since 1995. She received her Juris Doctorate and Masters in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago in 1995 and her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1989. Ann has been an active volunteer within the school for 10 years and has served on the Marketing and Communications Committee for six years, serving as Chair for the last two years. Ann is honored to serve on the School Board and is committed to promoting the excellence of St. Giles School.
Kent Pflederer — Finance Chair
Kent is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Packaging Corporation of America (PCA), the fourth largest producer of containerboard and corrugated products in the United States. He has served in this position since 2007 and manages all legal affairs for the company. He has an accounting degree from the University of Illinois, a law degree from Northwestern University and worked as a tax accountant and as a capital markets attorney before joining PCA. He has served on the school’s Finance Committee since 2013. Kent and his wife, Heather, have lived in Oak Park and attended St. Giles Parish since 2003 and have been actively involved in parish, school and local youth sports activities. They have three children, one of whom currently attends St. Giles School.
Janet B. Coffey
Janet and her husband, Mike, have been members of St. Giles Parish for 17 years and have four children (three St. Giles alumni and one current student). Janet has been an active volunteer within the school for 14 years, serving on various committees of the PTO (including past President) and currently serves on the Athletic Advisory Committee. Janet received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. in Public Communication from The American University. She has over 20 years of non-profit fundraising experience and currently works at Saint Patrick’s High School in Chicago as the Director of Marketing and Corporate Foundation Relations. In addition, she looks forward to using her professional Catholic school work experience and her volunteerism to enhance the overall strategy of the BSJ.
Tracy Wysockey — Marketing and Communications Chair
Tracy is an active member of the St. Giles community, which she has been involved in for the past eight years. Her four children attend St. Giles School. She has served as PTO President, Black & Gold Gala Chair, and most recently, the new after-school Enrichment Programs Chair. She also serves on the St. Giles Parish CCW board Chairing Domestic Violence Awareness. When not volunteering for St. Giles, she volunteers for Sarah’s Inn and for the Pro Bono Network, a group of lawyers working locally to help those without a voice in the system. She is passionate about St. Giles and is eager to make a difference.
Flavia Trucco Morrissey — Member-at-large
Flavia and her husband, Mike, have been parishioners of St. Giles since 1984. Their three children attended St. Giles, the youngest graduating in 2000. Their two grandchildren will be attending the school this upcoming school year. Flavia attended St. Angela Grammar School, Trinity High School, DePaul University (Bachelors in Elementary Education) and Dominican University (Masters in Library and Information Science). She taught for 18 years, 14 years as a librarian/resource teacher at St. Giles. Through the years, she has volunteered in many St. Giles programs including Market Day, Great Books, Rainbows for All God’s Children, and the Restore the Gift Capital Campaign. Flavia is committed to continuing her support of St. Giles School by serving as a member of the School Board.
Rachel Rhettberg – Member-at-large
Rachel is a member of St. Giles Parish and has lived in Oak Park for 11 years with her husband Kyle, and their three boys, JP, Charlie and Kyler. Rachel also serves as CEO of the Wonder Works Children’s Museum in Oak Park and works part-time as a substitute Early Childhood Educator at Concordia University Chicago in River Forest. She received her Masters in Early Childhood Education from Concordia in 2011, and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Essex in Colchester, England. Being involved in the Religious Education Program at St. Giles has been very important to Rachel; she has volunteered in the PREP program and worked as a 2nd grade catechist. Currently, Rachel serves as the Coordinator of PREP. Rachel is passionate about education and is honored to be a part of the St. Giles School Board.
Liz Moroney, Athletic Advisory Committee Co-Chair
Liz Moroney has been an active member of the St. Giles Community for 9 years. She has served on the executive committee of the PTO for the past 5 years and was President in 2014-15. She has also chaired Market Day, Halloween Party and All School-Dance. A Boston native, Liz is a 1996 graduate from Marquette University where she studied Communications. Liz settled in Oak Park after marrying Mike (also a Marquette graduate). A St. Giles alumnus, Mike Moroney coaches soccer for the 8th grade and is also a member of the St. Giles Men’s Society. Professionally, Liz has been a member of the Gloor Realty team for the past 16 years and also rehabs houses in the Oak Park area. Liz and Mike have four children at St. Giles; Megan 8th, Annie 6th, and Liam and Clare 3rd. Her favorite past time is attending her children’s athletic games.
Tony Schmitz, Development Chair
Tony and his wife, Claire Noonan, moved from Chicago to Oak Park two years ago. Their daughters Mary and Margaret are in 4th grade and pre-k 4, respectively. Tony attended Loras College before moving to Chicago to teach at Visitation Elementary School through the Dominican Volunteers program. He received his J. D. in 1993 from Illinois Institute Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent Law School. Tony has worked as a trial attorney and as an adjunct professor at a local university. He now enjoys being a stay-at-home dad.
Mary Catherine Wygonik, Member-at-large
Mary Catherine and her husband Ed have been members of St. Giles Parish for over forty years. All five of their children attended St. Giles School. Mary Catherine was involved in the PREP program and also taught Reading and fourth and fifth grades for eight years at St. Giles. She served in a myriad of capacities as a parish and school volunteer. At one time Mary Catherine was the Youth Minister. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Marygrove College and her Masters in Supervision and Administration from Roosevelt University. In over forty years of education, Mary Catherine has served students and their families from pre -school to college. As an administrator, she was a district ESL supervisor, assistant principal and principal in two different schools. Her experience is in both Catholic and public education. Presently, she is an adjunct professor at Dominican University and teaches the Teach for America students. Her community involvement includes president of a board of a recovery house, ESL tutor, volunteer at Ten Thousand Villages, and feeding the homeless.
Sara Yount, Member-at-large
Sara, her husband Josh, and their three boys have lived in Oak Park and been members of St. Giles Parish since 2005. Their oldest son, Henry is entering 8th grade at Julian Middle School. Their younger boys, Peter and James are entering 5th grade and 3rd grade at Mann Elementary, where Sara has been on the PTO Board for the past four years. Also, she has been very actively involved in the St. Giles Religious Education Program having served on the Religious Education Advisory Board, co-chaired the PREP program for two years, volunteered as a catechist, and now works as the PREP Program Coordinator. Additionally, Sara has volunteered as a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister. She is excited to serve on the St. Giles School Board.
