Some reminders about this week!
- We have our Chapter 3 test on Wednesday this week. Make sure you are studying. How well we perform in class tomorrow will determine if it is going to be an open note test, so be prepared to show your stuff!
- Social Studies presentations continue this week! Make sure you are sending in your presentations the day BEFORE you present!
LA: STUDY! Use the handouts and your book to review!
Reading: Finish the novel! Be prepared to talk about the ending in class tomorrow!
Social Studies: Make sure you are working on your presentations!
Congratulations to our House Champions and our November Prefects Piper and Sebastian!
Thinking of what to do this evening?
Julian Middle School is performing their production of The Westing Game live tonight at 7:30. It is also playing Saturday and Sunday at the same time!
Tickets are $10/adult and $5/students under 13yrs.
Here is the website for more information. http://jpnose19.wixsite.com/cast-at-pjms/2015-2016-season
If you go to the show, bring a ticket stub or a program to school and receive some extra credit! I wish I could go see it myself, but I look forward to hearing about it from some of you!
For this weekend:
LA: Study for your test on Wednesday. Use the study guide we created today.
Reading: Read and take notes on chapters 26-28. We will finish the book in class on Monday! We will also finish answering our character questions on Monday.
Social Studies: Finish working on your presentations, so you are ready for next week! If you are confused about your date, please ask.
Our Toy Drive is under way! Thank you so much to those of you who have already brought in toys! We have some wonderful additions that I know will make a lot of kids happy! There is still time to bring in toys so please remember those kids when you are out doing your own Christmas shopping!
Also, please remember to bring in extra shoes to school with you, particularly if you are wearing boots. Check in your backpacks before you leave home, or leave them in a plastic bag by the door to help you remember! It is important that you are not walking around in wet shoes to make sure the hallways are not slick and dangerous
LA: write 4 sentences using each of the different types of verbs (linking, verb phrase, acting, and being). These must be declarative statements, and label them to show which you are using.
Reading: Study! Ms. Gallo was kind enough to make a Quizlet for 6th grade to use to review the vocabulary! Here is the link if you would like it!
Social Studies: Make sure you are continuing to work on your projects with your partner. Remember that the essays are due on the 16th! That is next Friday!
Also, it was brought to my attention that there was an error in the rubric for the project! In class I mentioned that 1st person was appropriate for this essay because it is talking about your traditions. However, on the rubric it says 3rd person. Please note that 3rd person is not a requirement for the essay!
Here is an updated version.
Thursday Blurs-day! Where did the time go?
Some reminders for tonight:
LA: If you did not complete your Thanksgiving pictures in class, make sue you finish coloring and cut them out so we can vote for them tomorrow! Also, if you received your test back for corrections, they must be turned back in with corrections (on loose leaf) TOMORROW during LA!
Reading: Read and take notes on chapters 5-6 in your notebook. Make sure they are complete. There should be thorough summaries and the only section that should have minimal notes in the literary devices section. You will not find a device in every chapter.
Read and take notes on the Babylonian and Assyrian Empires. Egyptians, you also must complete the Neo-Babylonian empire.
Extra Credit Opportunity: 3 points
There is a biblical location associated with ancient Mesopotamia. Use key words to look up a possible answer online. It is a location mentioned in the Bible, and you have heard about it many times!
Write your answer down on a notecard and bring it in tomorrow!
Have a great night!

Good afternoon, everyone!
I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend so far!
I mentioned to you all in class on Thursday that we would have our Unit 1 test towards the end of this week, so I just wanted to deliver an electronic copy of the study guide for our Language Arts test on Thursday! We have done lots of practice in class, and you have all been working hard to learn the different ways we can construct sentences. I will have hard copies for you in class, and we will spend part of tomorrow’s class, Tuesday, and Wednesday reviewing. I think you will all be more than prepared by then, and I have a fun activity planned for Lion’s Leap Day on Friday!
This study guide is for you to use at home to guide your review. Always bring questions to class! I know you all will be ready and raring to go this week.
Have a wonderful evening.
