Check the summer 2020 Reading List for the grade you are entering. For example, if you are entering 7th grade, choose a book from the 7th grade list.
Grades 4-8 Summer Reading Lists
I-Ready – Summer Math: Students are to keep working on the assigned lessons throughout the summer. These lessons are based on the student’s performance on the third diagnostic test. The recommended time per week is 40-45 minutes. This enrichment work will support student learning and help prepare them for the 2020-21 school year.

6th Grade Math: The last math assignment for this year will be calculating area, surface area, and volume. Last Thursday these concepts and formulas were reviewed in the Zoom meeting. Click on the recorded lesson if you need to review these topics before completing the assignment on quizizz.com. Use game code: 8860791
Zoom Meeting – Monday, June 1st @ 12:30 – Virtual Step-up 6th grade to 7th grade (Homeroom 206). All students in homeroom 206 are invited to join the meeting to meet the 7th grade teachers and to hear about classwork and expectations. Students will also have an opportunity to ask questions.

7th Grade Math: Students will complete the chapter 11 assessment. It will be in two parts: part 1 – vocabulary and part 2 – application of concepts.
Late Work: All missing math and religion assignments must be completed no later than June 2nd. Remember you need to use your St. Giles email to access any Google documents/forms.

Week of May 25th

Religion: This week students will review the stories in the final chapters of the Gospel of Matthew. They will also use Scripture to find the similarities between Moses and Jesus. Then students will learn about the Psalms.
6th Grade Math: Students will begin chapter 9: Tables, Graphs, and Functions. They will develop an understanding of mapping diagrams and recognize the rule. They will also write equations as functions and represent functions as an input-output table.

7th Grade Math: Students will continue working in chapter 11. They will use a formula to find the angle measure of a polygon. They will identify similar triangles and use indirect measurement to determine similarity. They will also find angle measures formed by parallel lines and a transversal.

I-Ready Diagnostic: Thank you to all students who completed the third math diagnostic test last week. Reminders were set to students that need to complete or redo the test.

Religion: This week students will reflect on Jesus’ behavior in the Temple, acknowledge what Peter knew about Jesus, and identify the three things that Jesus told the disciples to go and do.
Also remember to create some inspirational sidewalk chalk art for extra credit. Send me a photo of your masterpiece!
6th Grade Math: Students will complete an assessment on chapter 8: Inequalities. Then students will review fraction and decimal operations. These basic skills need to be mastered as they prepare to move into 7th grade math.

7th Grade Math: Students will complete an assessment on chapter 9: Probability. Students will then begin chapter 11: Triangles and Similarity. They will review basic angle measures; acute, right, obtuse, and straight. They will expand their understanding to include; complementary, supplementary, and vertical angles. They will also find missing angle measures in triangle.

I-Ready Diagnostic: All 6th and 7th grade students need to complete the third and final i-Ready math diagnostic test on Thursday. The test should take approximately 45-60 minutes. Students need to read directions and follow carefully and do their very best.
