Third Trimester Policy for 8th Grade Students

With all of the exciting 8th grade events approaching, we would like to make you aware of our third trimester policy for 8th graders. In order to participate in privileges such as Six Flags and the picnic, the 8th graders must comply with the following expectations: Students with three after school detentions in Trimester III may not participate in Six Flags. For additional information about behaviors that warrant after-school detentions, please see our school handbook.

Confirmation Service Opportunity: Cookie Baking

Last year, the St. Giles Family Mass Confirmation group made cookies for the Kairos Retreat in Joliet. The Kairos Prison Ministry of Illinois is an ecumenical Christian program designed to build faith communities inside Stateville Correctional Center. As an integral part of this process, they hold 3 1/2 day on-site retreats with many adult volunteers and inmates. One of the trademarks of this experience is an abundance of Chocolate Chip Cookies. They generally travel to the weekend with as many as 2000 dozen cookies. Last year we made 20 dozen. We are hoping that a larger group, consisting of the Chaos youth group and volunteers from the 2020 Confirmation class can make more!

We would like to invite each of the Confirmation candidates to join us in McDonough Hall at 5:30pm (until 8pm or later) on Sunday, February 23rd to make cookies for the cause! To get the ingredients correct, we need to know how many teens to expect, so please RSVP to “jboyle@ftek.com” or to Emily Davis so we can get an accurate head count. We will likely need a few adults as well. This is a wonderful and “sweet” way to help the most isolated individuals in our society, and to help others help them!
