We continued to work on subtraction strategies this week including:

using subtraction to compare 2 groups; the difference reveals how many more or fewer in one of the groups

Important Vocabulary – difference, compare

Next week – We will finish up subtraction concepts including relating subtraction and addition facts (i.e. if 4 + 5 = 9 then 9 – 4 must equal 5, etc.)

Science – Previously we learned about the Earth’s crust. This week we discussed things in space that we can see from Earth. Some of these things we see during the day while others are visible only at night. We see the sun solely during the day. The moon, though, is something we see at night but can also sometimes be seen during the day too. We are discussing the fact that the moon doesn’t look the same every night. As we extend our conversation about things that can be seen in space from Earth, we’re exploring how/why the moon doesn’t look the same every night…

Next week – We will continue our investigation into light.
