Reading: This week we will delve further into our first novel Hatchet. Students should refer to the novel care contract information that went home the first week to make sure they are taking care of their book. We will be reviewing literary devices of foreshadowing and flashback and apply this information to recognize the purposes of certain scenes that the author has chosen. Our goal is to be done with chapter 4 by Friday.
SS: The chapter 1 test is Thursday this week. Students were given a study guide on Friday to help them focus their studying. While the study guide is not an assignment, it is a helpful tool for students to organize their time for optimal preparedness.
Religion: Test on chapter 1 on Wednesday. Students will complete a chapter review and have their assessment on Wednesday. Students should focus their studying on the events of the stories of Abraham and Mary and how they represent models of faith for people today.
LA: This week we will wrap up chapter 1 about paragraph structure and organizing ideas. Students will practice the expectations of what it means to be a 6th grade writer such as ” a minimum of 6 sentences, endmarks and punctuation, and compound and complex sentences.”
