A Recap of Our Week & A Glimpse Into Next Week
We spent the week working on deciding when to count on by ones versus when to count on by tens. We added tens and ones also learned to do this with regrouping. (10 ones must be regrouped into one ten, 10 tens must be regrouped into a hundred, etc.)
We will continue to working on Chapter 6 by subtracting tens, counting back by tens, and relating addition & subtraction of tens. Vocabulary will include words that we’ve already learned about (subtract, count back, related facts) but in the context of place value/tens.
Spelling lists contained words with the long a sound created by ai and/or ay.
We drew conclusions to help us with reading comprehension.
We also learned that adjectives (grammar) tell about or describe nouns.
Spelling – Long e made by ea (and ee); inflected endings
High- Frequency words will be draw, colors, over, drew, great, sign, show
Comprehension – Theme
Grammar – Adjectives for colors & shapes
During religion, we talked about Ash Wednesday and Lent.
Next, we will continue to focus on the season of Lent.
Next, we will learn about sound waves.
We learned about United States symbols and talked about some United States Monuments and their locations during Social Studies. Students each chose a monument to learn more about. More information on this project will be sent home soon.
