I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since the 5th grade. I had an amazing teacher who made learning so much fun and interactive. I believe life-long learning is a key skill that everyone should continue as we age and we should pass this skill to our children.
My education includes a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. I received a certification in South Carolina for Gifted and Talented Education. I have been teaching for 5 years with my first 4 years in Charleston, SC and 5th year in Waukegan, IL. Throughout my career I have served as middle school English department chair from 2014-2016. Served as team leader for 6th grade in 2014-2015 and team leader for middle school department last year. I have also piloted blended/flipped classroom in incorporating innovative technology at two different schools. This practice has increased student participation by introducing relevant computer programs and exercises to encourage student interest. I have also developed innovative methods that became the standard for the district in Charleston, SC. I was also given the opportunity to design and conduct a professional development workshops in all subjects for Berkeley County School District in South Carolina. Currently, I am one of the Innovative Tech Coaches for the Archdiocese of Chicago.
On my down time I enjoy watching shows on Hulu, listening to music on Spotify, and attending live music in small venues. I currently live in Rogers Park, Chicago IL.
