The St. Giles Arts Fest was on Wednesday, May 1st from 6:30-8:00 pm. Many students, families and teachers enjoyed viewing artwork from Kindergarten through 8th grade students. There were also student musical performances throughout the night, led by Mr. Mendoza. There were student projects such as watercolor sea life paintings, harvest still-life paintings, leaf collages, pinch pots, scratch paper trees, watercolor landscapes and oil pastel projects. In addition, Art Club displays included work such as clay skulls, clay snowmen, sea life scratch paper drawings and acrylic animal paintings on canvas. Signs were posted for each project to explain some of the techniques that students learned including drawing in proportion, shading, pattern, perspective, color blending and sculpting. Also, students learned about famous artists, such as Monet, Seurat and Van Gogh, as well as learning about The Day of the Dead Festival. Mrs. Kent is thankful to the Art Club and Ambassador students, as well as parent volunteers who helped with mounting artwork, setting up panels and taking down artwork. It was a wonderful evening to celebrate the creativity, talents and accomplishments of students at St. Giles!
