MATH

RESOURCES——–

7th   BIG IDEAS MATH                    8th    BIG IDEAS MATH

ACCELERATED                                 ALGEBRA 1

OVERVIEW——

While reviewing basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers, fractions, and decimals, greater emphasis at the seventh and eighth grade level is put on the study of ratio, proportion and percent, integers, geometry, measurement, pre-algebra, and    algebra skills. There is much emphasis on number sense and expression evaluations. Skills in understanding math concepts, computation,  problem solving, and perseverance are stressed.

HOME PRACTICE—-

Written assignments will be given daily due to 80 min blocks.  Home practice will be checked daily via a home practice quiz or check-in for completion.

WARM UP—-

The first 5-10 minutes of each class will be used either for an independent problem solving warm-up and word jumble.

ASSESSMENTS—-

End of Chapter Assessments (ECA’s) are given every chapter. These are larger tests that assess student knowledge of the chapter. There will also be physical Exit Slips or mini quizzes given 1-3 times a week checking student understanding. iPADS allow us to have more mini assessments daily.
The 8th grade will develop familiarity with the T1-83+, a graphing calculator.
