Declaration of Independence Storybook Project

In 7th grade social studies, we read through and dissected Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence. As a group, we were able to analyze what Thomas Jefferson wrote and put it in our own words to better understand what the document actually says. Thomas Edison once said, “If you cannot explain it to a [child,] you don’t understand it yourself”. Therefore, to demonstrate understanding of the document, each students will be making a Declaration of Independence Story Book—in simple language that is easy to understand. This project will take the place of a test on the Declaration of Independence. Make sure to follow the rubric carefully and plan each page. The final project is due in class on Monday 9/23!
