Elementary Students (K – 4)
Students finished the Scooter Unit when we returned from spring break this year. Not only are scooters an excellent way to improve and work on your core muscles, they are also loads of fun and personally a favorite memory I have from when I was in gym at Palos East Elementary. We played group games like Dino Tag, Ships & Sailors, and Sinker Ball. In addition, students practiced spinning on their stomachs like a sky diver or compass and worked on basic physics principals by pushing themselves off the wall with their feet or having a partner push them.
Intermediate Students & Junior High Students
5th Grade students spent time in April playing group games, participating in fun fitness activities, and learning how to jump rope with a long rope, perform jump rope tricks, and most importantly how to swing the rope with a partner. 6th Grade students started their Circus Unit and will be working hard to perfect their clowning, adagio, and props skills for the next few weeks. Junior High students finished up their Quidditch unit and spent one week playing group games including a few new versions of target games.
All Students Learn Lacrosse
During the last week in April we were joined by EastAve lacrosse who instructed us on the fundamentals of the sport. (This was an extra treat for me as I didn’t grow up playing this sport.)
