Hello Parents and Students,
Today was a productive day back from the weekend. Here are clarifications on Math classroom policy.
NOTE: Effective 9/12/2016
Student Accountability
Agenda Checks—– I will begin doing random agenda/assignment notebook checks for perseverance points. Please make sure you are documenting your home practices and have them stamped by me. Although it is time consuming, it is necessary practice for your organization.
Pink Slips—–Today marks the beginning of pink slip tallies towards lunch detention in Math. This means that all assignments following today will be documented and after 3 assignments not turned in, students will be be given a lunch detention. This time should be used to complete missing work.
Exit Slips/Mini Quizzes—-Beginning this week, All exit slips missed by students that are absent must be taken by the end of the week either after school or during lunch/recess following a review of the material. The calendar for exit slips is underneath the exit slip submissions

Tutoring—–I encourage all students to come to see me during my after school tutoring times Tues/Thurs from 3:15pm – 4:30pm to supplement their loss of class instruction or for additional enrichment.
Q.U.I.E.T Points——-All quiet points have been tallied and re-adjusted to the new goal of 150 points for the reward. Our reward will be voted on by the wining class. Examples include : choosing all songs for drop everything and dance, a class home practice pass, snack day, and other prizes.
Reasons for loss of points include: shouting out after 2 warnings, taking more than 1 minute for whole class to get quiet, chit-chatting during independent work, not maintaining correct voice level of 0,1,&2, incorrect use of classroom time, inappropriate or unexpected behavior, wandering around the room, using disrespectful/hurtful language or tones with peers or teachers.
If class needs to be stopped for me to address the entire class for re-itteration of these rules, the class will lose all Q.U.I.E.T points for the day.
Absent Folders——In the front of the room are labeled and chronologically placed materials that include home practice assignments, in class work, and important forms for students. If you are absent, you are responsible for using this resource to find the materials you are missing and have them turned in to me in order to receive full credit. These are also here for students collecting student work for their peers.
Website—–I update the website daily with class information and home practices. Please use this page as a reference for missing/soon to be due work.
Thank you for reading, and stay positive! We will all learn more productively when these expectations are met. I am available via email all day if there are any concerns or questions—-alewandowski@stgilesschool.org
