Thank you to our room parents for planning a great Halloween party!
Thank you also to parents who came in to help out with the festivities and to all who donated supplies!
We continue working on the Daily 5 – Read to Self, Read to Someone, Word Work, Work on Writing & Listening. A New Word Work was recently introduced – Build It… Students “build” their spelling words one at a time and write them down on a recording sheet. (Other Word Work options we’ve been doing include Rainbow Write, Dry Erase, and Stamp It.)
We started chapter 3 in math this week. Chapter 3 covers a variety of addition strategies. We also continue working on improving our math fact fluency!
Next Week – Doubles, Near Doubles, and Making 10 to Add (when finding sums greater than 10)
This week’s spelling words contained long i. We know that when there is a silent e at the end of a word, it makes the i say it’s own name. A vowel that says its own name, is a long vowel. We also learned about ch, tch, and wh.
Next Week – long o; Contractions n’t, ‘m, ‘ll
Our high frequency words this week were live, out, people, who, work.

Comprehension Strategy – Author’s Purpose
Next Week – Sequence
We discussed past, present, and future in social studies this week.
During religion we’ve been talking about God and why we refer to Him as our loving Father. God created all things to show his love for us. Students were able to provide examples of things God created and explain how each thing reveals God’s love for us. By helping care for and protect God’s creation, we show our love for Him and express our gratitude.
Next Week: The Sacrament of Baptism
