High Frequency Words – along, behind, eyes, never, pulling, towards
Comprehension – Character, Setting, and Plot
Synonyms
We planted potatoes and have been monitoring the growth of our flower seeds that were planted before the Easter Break. Students were also given a variety of edible plant parts. First they identified/sorted them as roots, stems, leaves, flowers, or seeds. Then they feasted! (-; It was exciting to watch many of them realize the connection between what we’ve been learning about plants and things that we often eat!
We’ve been learning about time in math, being sure to secure an understanding of the basics. Students who are ready have been exploring the concepts of time a bit more in depth. Basic first grade vocabulary includes: hour, minute analog clock, hour hand, minute hand, o;clock, digital clock, half hour, and half past. Next, we will wrap up Chapter 8 (Measurement and Time) and take our chapter test. After that, we’ll learn about two-dimensional Shapes and Equal Shares.
