We began our science investigations into living systems by learning about the different parts of plants and how each part functions to help the plant survive and grow.
We will conduct some experiments that will help to illustrate how plant parts function. We will also begin some planting and growing of our own!
We finished up the Stations of the Cross and turned our focus to Palm Sunday during religion.
Next, we’ll focus on Holy Week.
Students learned about measurement in math. We used non-standard units of measure (unifix cubes, pennies, erasers, etc.) to compare the lengths of various objects.
Next, we will look at how time is measured.
Spelling/Phonics covered compound words. We also learned about the sound made by the ue and iu vowel combinations as well as ew.
We read Peter’s Chair by Ezra Jack Keats and focused on character, setting, and plot to help us with comprehension.
Students reviewed adjectives for color, shape, and kind then learned about adjectives to describe how many. (grammar)

High Frequency Words (One of these words will appear as the bonus word on our spelling test!) – across, because, dance, only, opened, shoes
*Since there is no school on Friday, our spelling test will be on Thursday again this week.
Students learned how to do basic research using books or valid internet sights as resources during social studies as they learned more about American monuments. We talked about the table of contents, glossaries, and putting information we find into our own words.
