Spelling/Phonics covered the long i sound created by ie and/or igh as well as words that begin with kn and wr.
We read The Lady in the Moon and focused on realism vs. fantasy to help with comprehension.
Students brainstormed adjectives that describe what kind. For example, hot or windy both describe a kind of weather while juicy and sour describe different kinds of fruits.
Spelling/Phonics – compound words; words that contain ew, ud, and iu
Comprehension – character, setting, plot
Grammar – Adjectives for how many
High Frequency Words (One of these words will appear as the bonus word on our spelling test!) – picture, remember, room, stood, thought
We took the Chapter 7 test in math.
We’ll start Chapter 8 which covers measurement and time. Important math vocabulary will include length, long, short, compare, short/shorter/shortest, long/longer/longest, measure, and unit
During Religion, we’ve been talking about the Stations of the Cross and thinking about how the lessons found in each station can be applied in our own lives.
We will discuss the last couple of stations and then turn our focus to Palm Sunday.
We conducted a few sound experiments in science and, soon, we will turn our attention to plants.
During social studies, students started doing a bit of research on the American monument they each chose. We’re learning how to use resources (books, reputable internet sites) and record a few things that we’ve discovered. Next, we’ll continue researching at school and then students will complete the last details of their research projects at home. Details to come soon…
