Reading/Phonics/LA – The students will be learning about words with soft c and soft g, narrative nonfiction, to make predictions, find the main topic, key details, about common and proper nouns, and when to use capital letters for proper names.
High Frequency Words for the week: almost, buy, food, out, pull, saw, sky, straight, under, wash
Spelling – There will be a spelling pre-test on Monday, with two lists, and a test on THURSDAY this week.
Math – The students will be having a test on Tuesday covering the topics of two and three digit addition with and without regrouping. The students will be bringing home a study guide on Monday to review for the test. They will be starting Unit 4 covering the concepts of subtracting two-digit numbers this week.
Science – The students will be investigating how the properties of some solids make them useful and how you can use shapes when building.
Religion – The students will be learning about prayer, psalms, ways people in our parish or school community treat others with kindness, and ways to praise and thank God.
Social Studies – The students will be learning about the branches and levels of government.
Important Upcoming Events:
Thursday, 10/31 – The Halloween Parade starts promptly at 12:15 and the “progressive style” classroom Halloween parties will be from 1:00 – 2:00. Please see St. Giles website for additional details. It is also Early Dismissal today at 2:00! The students will not be going home to change into their costumes this year. They can, however, come to school in costume! If they are not comfortable wearing their costumes all morning, you can come to the Corrigan Lobby between 11:00 – 11:40 to assist your child with changing into their costumes before the parade.
