Welcome to my webpage.
This summer I attended a 5 day, comprehensive conference through the Institute of Multi-Sensory Education and became trained in the accredited Orton-Gillingham reading and phonics program. As the learning resource teacher, it is my goal is to use the knowledge that I gained to enhance the reading and phonics program that I currently use with my learners.
At this time, I would like to pass along website references that were recommended to me at the conference, and can be used in the home. abcya.com, braingym.org, spellingcity.com, and readingrockets.org are worth looking into. With that said, one of the most valuable pieces of assistive technology for struggling readers is audiobooks. Learning Ally is an invaluable resource for parents with a child with a learning disability or visual impairment. Learning Ally provides audio books for students for entertainment, as well as classroom books. Please visit www.learningally.org for more information.
Also, mark your calendars for Thursday, 9/20. It is Picture Day at St. Giles. Start getting your child’s favorite outfit ready for the big day. I always look forward to Picture Day because when students are out of uniform, their personalities really shine through.
Thank you for taking the time to read my webpage.
Until next time friends,
