Soccer was a huge hit at the start of the school year. Students focused on passing and trapping, fun tag games, and basic skill work. Throwing and Catching was our next unit. Students enjoyed tag games such as Sink the Ship, Clean up your Backyard, and Hula Hoop Clean Up. As we moved into October, we started one of my favorite units – Halloween. Students enjoyed Ghosts in the Graveyard, Trick or Treat Tag, and running through the bat cave to collect spooky eyes and build a skeleton.
Intermediate students finished up their soccer unit in September and built on their skills learning offense and defense positions. 5 & 6 Grade students moved into Fitness Games and rounded October off with Hand Ball & Hand Hockey. 3 & 4 Grade Students enjoyed learning the fundamentals of football and did an excellent job of passing, receiving, and running the ball for touchdowns.
Junior High Grades
Students were introduced to Ultimate Frisbee and enjoyed spending time outdoors mastering the skills of tossing and catching a frisbee on some very windy days. Football was introduced with a focus on running plays designed by the quarterback, the main offensive positions, defensive coverage, and general game play.
As usual the gym is a place for the students to get moving and grooving! The students have all been actively participating and make my teaching experience one filled with joy and smiles.
