NOUNS: Days of the Week; Months of the Year; Colors; Family; Classroom objects; Weather; Food; Clothing; Holidays, etc.
ADJECTIVES: Used in description / personal characteristics; Used for describing emotional states and conditions; Used to describe nouns.
PHRASES: Used in greetings; expressing likes/dislikes, expressing feelings; describing self and others; ordering food; other topics.
GRAMMAR: Personal pronouns (subject pronouns); possessive adjectives; demonstrative pronouns; verbs learned as ‘linguistic chunks.
CULTURAL INFORMATION: Readings in English highlighting cultural information on Spain, Mexico, Latin America; Geography; Customs, etc.
NOTE: St. Giles has purchased an interactive online program for this level called ‘Foreign Languages for Kids by Kids’. Classroom textbook = Viva el espanol (Hola and Que tal). Other materials are worksheets, coloring pages, hand-outs, games, songs, etc.
