The Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund (DMSF) is wonderful opportunity for 8th grade students to earn a scholarship to attend a private, college preparatory high school. This scholarship gives high school scholarship assistance and educational support to Chicago students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. There are currently 450 DMSF Scholars attending 65 partner high schools, Since 1990, more than 2,000 students have been awarded scholarships.
Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need, academic ability, and leadership. We accept students who reside in Chicago, Cicero, or Berwyn and who will graduate 8th grade with the Class of 2020. Students who are interested in applying can access the applications HERE. Families should complete the application online, and can create an account username and password so that they do not need to complete the application in a single sitting. Teacher & guidance counselor/principal recommendation forms will be emailed to the recommenders via a link, once the student portion of the application has been submitted electronically. This year, applicants will also have an opportunity to submit an optional recommendation from a non-teacher.
All completed applications are due by October 18th, 2019. DMSF encourages students to submit their applications at least one week in advance of the application deadlines to give their recommenders time to complete their portion of the application.
DMSF will host a high school fair at St. Ignatius College Prep (1076 W. Roosevelt, Chicago, IL) from 5:00-7:30pm on Tuesday, October 8th, 2019. This is a great opportunity to learn more about DMSF and to meet with representatives from over 75 partner schools.
