To Our Wonderful Volunteers: We need your participation. You'll see that the PTO offers many activities that bring parents, students, and our Giles educators together in fun and collaborative ways. Take a moment to see what committees most interest you and your family. There are a variety of ways to participate. You are appreciated for all that you do.
Thank you from the PTO!
Every person who volunteers in our school must complete the Archdiocesan compliance requirements. Volunteers include, but are not limited to room parents, fun lunch helpers, birthday book club helpers, field trip chaperones, Girl Scout and Boy Scout leaders and helpers, and those who volunteer in our classroom parties.
We encourage parents to utilize SignUp.com to organize classroom activities. Stacy McEnery is the liaison with the PTO SignUp.com and can assist you with your SignUp needs. Stacy may be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org or cell phone (847) 508-4188.
These committees are designated for PTO events that occur once or twice a year. They are perfect for parents who know they have room in their schedules at certain points of the year or those who feel passionately about the given matter the event is highlighting.
Volunteers in this committee coordinate with Anderson’s Bookfair Company to sponsor a school book fair and organize an in-store fundraiser with Magic Tree Bookstore. The book fair is held in conjunction with the parent-teacher conferences in October and potentially again in spring. The in-store fundraiser occurs at the end of the school year. Volunteers are needed for publicity, set-up, collecting teacher wish lists, sales, finances, and clean-up for the book fair.
The Variety Show is an annual talent show at St. Giles run by parent volunteers. Assistance is needed with auditions, rehearsals, and the production of the show, which is held in May. Volunteer efforts occur during school hours and some evening hours.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
Over 20 activities take place during this special event for families, students, and teachers. Catholic Schools Week occurs the last week of January and is important in growing school spirit. Volunteers are needed to publicize the week, decorate the school, coordinate family events, create teacher goodie baskets, and organize buddy lunches. Volunteer opportunities are available in the day, evening, and weekend hours.
These committees run activities all year long occurring with periodic frequency, such as, Birthday Book Club (monthly), and Fun Lunch (weekly). Other ongoing committees support values that the PTO advocate and embrace, such as Wellness, Hospitality, and Faith & Family.
Volunteers may opt to take on a year-long commitment or simply pop-in to help at events that work for their schedules. Most committees will organize volunteers on signup.com. Look for the links! Help is always appreciated!
BIRTHDAY BOOK CLUB
Birthday Book Club is a way to celebrate student birthdays while building our school library. For a small donation, students are invited during their birthday month to participate in a special pizza party during which they can select a new book to be presented to the school library. Volunteers are needed to organize attendees, oversee donations, and run the lunch.
