What is Lion’s Leap?

What is Lion’s Leap?

Lion’s Leap is a runathon/walkathon. Families are asked to consider making a significant donation and/or to solicit pledges from friends, neighbors and family members to support their running or walking and help the school. During "normal" times, preschool through 8th grade students run/walk a maximum of 35 laps or 30-40 minutes outside or in the gym due to inclement weather.

This year - students will participate together as a pride, safely spaced outdoors during their assigned gym time.  We will encourage them to walk 35 laps around the red/blue Boosterthon course.

The event kicks off with our virtual Pep Rally on Monday, September 21st and will be reinforced everyday in the classroom with teachers and Development staff through October 2nd.  Boosterthon will provide daily prizes for registering online and subsequently getting pledges of different levels.  Teachers will be offering nightly challenges to students to help encourage them to solicit donations!

Why is participation in this fundraiser a requirement?

Why is participation in this fundraiser a requirement?

Proceeds from Lion’s Leap are established as a line item in the school budget and are critical to meeting school expenses each year. These funds support important educational expenses from technology to new textbooks, offering ongoing teacher education, and underwriting special programs like the Collins Writing Program. Each family’s participation is important to reach our goal.

What is the minimum family donation?

What is the minimum family donation?

The required minimum contribution is

  • $250 per family with 2 or more children in grades K-8
  • $150 per family with one child in grades K-8
  • $100 per preschool student.

Pledges can be made per lap OR lump sum.

Families are encouraged to meet this commitment by soliciting support from family members, friends, parishioners, co-workers and neighbors.

On Pep Rally day, each student will receive a package with details about Lion's Leap.  Parents must register students online.  Once the student's account is set up, directions for soliciting pledges online via social media will be provided, including a video featuring your student!

Friends and family log on directly to Boosterthon and sponsor students.

Details about Lion's Leap

Details about Lion's Leap

Who:  We have again retained Boosterthon to help facilitate Lion’s Leap!  All Pre-K through 8th graders will participate.  This year, for safety concerns, we are asking parents NOT to come and watch.

What:  Our pep rally will be virtual - teachers will show the video to students in their homerooms. Boosterthon will train our teachers and Development staff to pump up the kids with the daily theme and provide prizes.

When:  On Wednesday, September 30 through Friday, October 2:
K-8th graders will participate during scheduled gym classes

Preschoolers will participate during their morning activities

All students may wear gym shorts and gym shoes to school and will be given their Lion's Leap t-shirt the morning of their assigned Lion's Leap Day to wear.

Where:  A red and blue course will be set up on the parish parking lot.

Why:  Boosterthon schools on average raise more money.  They motivate classrooms to compete with each other using team names, flags and FUN!  This year's program theme is Sports City Now - a fitness theme all about inspiring students to be active and activate their character.  Students will learn character traits that help strengthen themselves and the world:  care, celebration, courage, grit and teamwork.  The overall program helps encourage student participation in Lion’s Leap and therefore, collect more pledges!

Why are students expected to make a personal donation to Lion’s Leap?

Why are students expected to make a personal donation
to Lion’s Leap?

Lion’s Leap is our student fundraiser, a way for the children to contribute to their school while having fun with their classmates. Student contributions are collected in jars in their classrooms, and classrooms compete to see who can fill the most jars. Having your child donate his or her personal funds from a piggy bank or allowance is a wonderful lesson in stewardship.
